Problem: Managing sales force incentive programs effectively Our client, a large retail goods manufacturing company, wished to implement sales force commissions and compensation rules that had become too complex for its legacy systems to support. The company needed a new incentive management system. After carefully studying the range of available packaged solutions, our client determined that a custom-built solution was the best way to meet its requirements while controlling costs. Solution: A powerful custom-built commissions management application Symmetric Technologies built a commissions management solution tailored to needs of the customer. With the new system, complex rules for managing territories, incentives and promotions are defined via an easy-to-use Windows application. Exception-based assignment and rate rules are applied to sales data extracted from the client's legacy ERP system. Split orders, charge-backs, and returns are all handled seamlessly. As an added benefit, the sales force now has up-to-the-minute access to their commission status via an internet web site. Problem: Integrating a new packaged application with legacy systems Our client, a multi-billion dollar market leader in the beverage bottling and distribution industry, was deploying a new route management system and needed to integrate it with existing ERP (enterprise resource planning) and warehouse management systems. Deployed at more than 48 sites, the new SQL Server-based route management system needed to be integrated with the client's legacy mainframe applications without disrupting existing operations. In addition, the interface between applications needed to be flexible in order to accommodate evolving business requirements. Solution: A robust and highly configurable suite of integration applications Symmetric Technologies designed, built and deployed a fully automated, configurable integration solution. The suite of applications developed by Symmetric Technologies glued the different systems together so that customer, inventory, warehouse and financial information flowed seamlessly between systems. Furthermore, the solution implemented by Symmetric Technologies was so flexible that the client was able to reuse the solution on other integration efforts. Problem: Improving inefficient and ineffective organizational processes Our client, a non-profit organization which promotes adoption of special needs children, was burdened with inefficient paper-based processes and outdated computer systems. Employees and prospective parents alike were operating in an environment of confusion. So stretched were the client's employees that the organization started to lose focus of its mission. Solution: User-friendly application to run a leading non-profit organization Symmetric Technologies worked closely with the client's leadership team to develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization's people, policies and processes. Symmetric Technologies designed and developed an easy-to-use Windows application to manage all aspects of the client's operations including recruitment, scheduling, matching, media relations and management reporting. A resounding success with the client's user population, the application led to dramatic improvements in organizational efficiency and management effectiveness. Problem: Reporting business results in a timely and accurate manner Our client, a $350 MM retail distribution company, had limited visibility to its valuable operational data. They were unable see emerging business trends or identify unprofitable product lines. Producing reports with their outdated ERP system was expensive and difficult. In addition, many management reports produced conflicting numbers due to inconsistent approaches. Solution: An extensive data warehouse and reporting system Symmetric Technologies designed and built a sophisticated data warehouse, joining together information from several legacy data sources. Symmetric Technologies also developed a custom Windows application to identify and clean dirty data in order to ensure data quality. Finally, Symmetric Technologies deployed a powerful and flexible Business Objects-based reporting solution which distributes up-to-date business results over the client's corporate intranet. As a result of this empowering solution, management can make better business decisions in a rapidly changing business environment. Problem: Modernizing a commercial packaged application Our client, an established software vendor, marketed an application to the vending industry. After several years of moderate success in the marketplace, the client's flagship product experienced lagging sales due to its limited functionality and reliance on outdated technology. The client saw an opportunity to build a cutting-edge application for the vending industry. However, they lacked sufficient in-house engineering resources to get the job done. Solution: State-of-the-art, market-leading commercial software application Symmetric Technologies worked with the client's in-house engineering staff to create a solution which seamlessly integrates desktop, hand-held and relational database technology. Symmetric Technologies staff members provided project management, architecture and engineering expertise through all phases of the project. Following its release in the marketplace, the new application quickly became established as the preferred solution for the vending industry.
